Youth Activity Calculator

Log what a child actually did, review today’s active minutes, and see distinct active days across the week. Entries stay in this browser and are not sent to a server.

Log an activity

Activity tags describe typical movement, not a medical assessment. Actual movement and selected effort matter.

How to use this activity log

    1. Enter an age from 3 through 17 and choose the day.
    2. Select an activity category and activity, then record only minutes spent actively moving.
    3. Choose how hard that particular session felt and add it. Use Edit if the entry needs changing.
    4. Switch days to review the week. The week begins Monday.

    What counts as active time?

Count time spent moving, rather than the full scheduled length of a class, practice, or game when some of it involved instruction, breaks, or waiting. Light/easy movement is still shown, but it does not count toward the school-age moderate-to-vigorous result.

    Guidance by age

For ages 3–5, CDC guidance is to be physically active throughout the day. This calculator therefore reports logged active time without inventing a numeric daily target, countdown, or pass/fail result. For ages 6–17, CDC recommends at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous activity daily, with vigorous aerobic, muscle-strengthening, and bone-strengthening activity on at least three days each week.

    The three weekly activity types

Vigorous aerobic activity makes the heart beat much faster and only counts here when an aerobic activity is marked Vigorous. Muscle-strengthening movement works muscles more than usual. Bone-strengthening movement places force on bones, often through running or jumping. Muscle and bone totals are calculated independently.

Talk with a health professional or qualified instructor when adapting activity for a disability, health condition, pain, or injury.
